Walsall furniture event helps develop commercial opportunities, with the help of Heal's buyer John Jenkins
The cream of the West Midlands’ designers and manufacturers of furniture gathered at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium as part of an event to help improve commercial awareness and competitiveness. Director of exclusive furniture and home accessories store, Heal’s of London, John Jenkins, gave his view of what makes an exclusive supplier, offering valuable hints to more than 40 delegates on how to build relationships with potential buyers.
The group launched in 2005 and works with members to improve design, marketing and training in companies as well as encouraging collaboration. Some 2,000 businesses and 23,000 workers are currently involved in the design and making of furniture in the West Midlands.
Gerry Logue, Chairman of Furniture West Midlands, said: “Working with such an established buyer as John Jenkins gave our members an invaluable opportunity to find out about the latest trends and commercial expectations, which is vital but can be difficult for smaller companies to get to grips with. “Furniture is an increasingly important sector in this region and FWM is the voice of the industry, championing our members on a regional, national and international stage.”
