A post-war inspired look with a modern twist
Fannian
A new, ladies couture brand is being launched into retail this autumn, giving a post-war inspired look with a modern twist.
The 'fanniann' range is the creation of a talented designer, Jane Henderson, a graduate of City College, Coventry. Jane loves fashion all the way back to the 40's and has a particular interest in styles of the late 60's and 70's having been heavily influenced by the BIBA label from that period.
“I draw inspiration from my love of the 1940s and old films. The romance of strong beautiful women wearing tailored suits. There was always a strong emphasis on integrity, quality & style."
This first 'fanniann' collection for Autumn/Winter 2006 shows an emphasis on versatile clothing to wear for work, as well as socialising, with no need to change in-between.
The focus is on creating a sensual, rather than a sexy look that will appeal to the independent woman seeking glamorous sophistication.
Using the finest French and Italian wool and silk fabrics, all manufacturing takes place in the UK to create soft tailored jackets, elegantly fitted pencil skirts and trousers, sculpted dresses and satin shirts.
Although 'fanniann' is set out to be a national label representing British fashion, Jane is very proud of her West Midlands roots and is keen to keep her ties to this part of the country by basing her business in Coventry rather than moving down to the capital.
